Will Jeremy Lin's offseason routine help take him to the next level this season?

As Lin prepares for his second season as a member of the Houston Rockets, fans are wondering what to expect from him this year. In a Q & A with NBA.com's Jason Freidman, Lin said that his offseason routine is completely different from what it was last year -- and he means that in a positive way.

"Last year was actually a very frustrating summer of training because I was supposed to be ready a lot earlier, but the first two to three months of the summer just didn't go as planned," he said. "This summer has been filled with great health, allowing me to work on different things every day. It's been a lot easier in terms of knowing what each day is going to bring."

Lin was off to a slow start last season, but he was also coming off a busy offseason and had to get settled in with his new team. He spent much of last offseason rehabbing, which could have put him behind schedule. This offseason, he is working on improving his ability to move faster. Coaches are also helping him every step of the way.

"My strength coach, Daryl Eto, thought that I had really bad posture and knew that that meant, as an athlete, I was moving less efficiently than I should be. So we addressed it and he came up with a plan to specifically improve that," Lin said.

"It can be frustrating at times because it's like relearning the most basic of basic things which in this case is your stance and basic movement patterns," he explained. "It's not easy to relearn something at the age of 24 that you've been doing since you were a kid."

It will be interesting to see how Lin connects with new teammate Dwight Howard. After Lin stole the spotlight last summer, Howard's move to Houston instantly became a front page headline around the nation. This has given the 24-year-old Lin a chance to focus on his preparations for the season, which were difficult last year when he had to deal with free agency.
