Alexa Demie has made her breakout role on the HBO series "Euphoria" as Maddy Perez with her character's creating-a-statement-look every week.

The Latina actress is also a singer-songwriter, having released her first single entitled "Girl Like Me" in 2016, according to a Seventeen feature on the actress.

She was also featured in Pearl's 2016 track "Turnin' Tricks." Demie was also working on her first EP, as she stated in a 2019 interview.

The Mexican American actress landed her first role in a 2015 short film entitled "Miles." She then held guest spots in other television shows like "Ray Donovan" and "Love."

Demie was also part of the cast in movies such as "Wave," "Mainstream," and "Mid90s," which was a comedy-drama directed by Jonah Hill. Her producer friend Mikey Alfred was the one who put her up for a role in the "Mid90s."

Alexa Demie Before and After 'Euphoria'

The New York Times reported that Alexa Demie auditioned for the film "Never Goin' Back," but she lost the role. Director of "Never Goin' Back," Augustine Frizzell, helped Demie land the part of Maddy Perez in "Euphoria."

Meanwhile, she has a smaller role in Gia Coppola's "Mainstream," which also stars Andrew Garfield.

Demie said she keeps booking "these dark, dramatic roles." She added that her "soul and spirit crave comedy."

Demie is also set to produce her first feature film, which will be based on the life story of her mother, Rose Mendez.

Rose is a makeup artist who immigrated to Los Angeles from Mexico as a baby. She will be playing her mother as a teenager growing up in the 1980s Hollywood club scene.

Demie is also known to be a designer. She traveled to Japan to produce a sunglasses collection called Mainframe in her senior year of high school.

It started as an after-school hobby, which then turned into success as Nicki Minaj and other celebrities began wearing her creations.

Alexa Demie's Personal Life

Alexa Demie said in a People En Espanol interview that she is a very private person. She noted that even on her Instagram account, people do not really "get too know too much" of her personality.

She said she treats Instagram as a digital mood board compared to many of her peers who use social media to document their everyday lives. Demie noted that she uses it to create characters, adding, "I like my space."

The "Euphoria" star said her interest in fashion and beauty started with her mother, who, as a makeup artist, left copies of Vogue and Harper's Bazaar around the house.

Demie noted that she loved to read issues of those magazines when she was young. She then started to use the internet for inspiration.

She admitted that she never wore a lot of colors as compared to her iconic character Maddy. Alexa Demie said the creator of "Euphoria," Sam Levinson, loves makeup and allowed her to bring her own mood boards to set.
