Sadness briefly filled the Backstreet Boys concert venue in London following the tragic death of Nick Carter's brother, Aaron Carter. The legendary boy band paid tribute to the former teen pop star during their gig at the O2 Arena in London, which has a 20,000 capacity, on Sunday.

Kevin Richardson told the British crowd that their hearts were heavy as they lost one of their family members, Nick's "little brother." Nick stood next to him on stage, trying to hold back the tears.

Richardson then talked about Aaron's sudden passing at the age of 34 to the audience, and this was when Nick appeared to be wiping his eyes with his hand.

While he was visibly sobbing, Aaron's older brother was approached by the other Backstreet Boys members -  AJ McLean, Brian Littrell, and Howie Dorough - and hugged him.

It was a very emotional moment, with nearly all the boy band members seen wiping their eyes with their hands, apparently also tearing up. They said Aaron Carter was their little brother too, since he was opening for the boy band as he launched his solo singing career in the '90s.

An Emotional Tribute to Aaron Carter During Backstreet Boys Concert

According to Yahoo! News, the Backstreet Boys then performed a very emotional tribute to the late singer by performing "No Place," which is about family.

As they performed the hit song, photos of Aaron Carter and Nick Carter flashed on the screen. Some of the images were used by Nick in his social media tribute following his brother's death.

Nick performed a solo in the song "Breathe," a ballad about "family," which the boy band also dedicated to his brother. The Guardian reported that as Nick performed his solo, fans continually screamed, "We love you Nick!"

Despite the "I Want Candy" singer's death, the Backstreet Boys will continue their European tour this week as planned. As they say, the show must go on.

However, Variety reported that several other events scheduled alongside the tour have been amended or canceled, including a meet and greet with band member McLean.

The Complicated Relationship of Nick Carter and Aaron Carter

Aaron Carter started his career performing and touring with the Backstreet Boys at age 9. However, as he got older, aspects of his mental illness started to show, and so did his various addictions.

This has made his relationship with his siblings complicated. Nick Carter and Aaron's twin sister Angel Carter both filed restraining orders against Aaron following some personal altercations with him, claiming they felt unsafe with their brother.

Nick and Aaron also had a very famous physical altercation during their E! reality show, "House of Carters." However, according to a report by Page Six, a representative for the late singer said the two brothers were "on the path to making amends."

The rep added that Aaron made amends with Nick before his passing and "was happy about this because he loved his brother." Aaron Carter was found dead inside his home in Lancaster, California on Saturday morning.

A housekeeper reportedly found his body inside a bathtub and called 911 for suspected drowning. Investigators said there was no evidence of foul play, but they found multiple cans of compressed air and prescription pill bottles in the bathroom.
