European soccer teams spend millions on players and could outspend other countries in paying players alone. Among the teams' biggest expenses is on goalkeepers, and the most expensive one is Alisson Becker, who is currently playing for Brazil at the World Cup.

The Liverpool goalkeeper was named The Best FIFA Goalkeeper in 2019 and is one of the most sought-after players in that position in the world. Now, he seeks to stop Brazil's 20-year World Cup drought alongside Neymar in Qatar.

Alisson Becker's Illustrious Career as a Goalkeeper

Like many Brazilians, he is simply known by his first name, which is Alisson. He started his soccer career when he joined Internacional's academy in 2002 before making his senior debut in 2013.

It was not long before Europe called, and he signed up with the Italian side Roma in 2016. Alisson Becker then made a name for himself and was even awarded Serie A Goalkeeper of the Year during the 2017-18 season.

He was so good in Roma that when he reached the end of his contract there, several other big teams tried to court him.  One of the teams that courted him was Chelsea.

The English side was one of the contenders, but the Brazilian admitted in an interview with UOL Sport that his experience playing against Chelsea as part of Roma turned him off from signing with them.

"If you ask me what it was like to play at Anfield as an opponent, I can sum it up for you in one word: horrible. Anfield is a spectacular stadium, when the crowd plays together, it's very noisy - and in that game, they were 'on fire."

Instead, the Brazilian goalkeeper went with rival Liverpool, signing an $87.4 million five-year contract in 2018. That makes Alisson the most expensive goalkeeper in the world.

With Liverpool, the Brazilian has won the Premier League, FA Cup, EFL Cup, UEFA Champions League, and FIFA Club World Cup. He was also the recipient of the inaugural Yashin Trophy in 2019. In Qatar, he is seeking his first-ever World Cup.

Alisson Becker Net Worth 2022

Aside from earning millions as a player, Allison Becker also works as a brand endorser, sporting a mustache in the World Cup as he partners with Gilette.

According to This Is Anfield, the new look was also in support of Novembro Azul, known as Movember in the UK. Using hashtag #BigodeQueCuida on his Instagram post earlier this week, he urged men to "speak up" and seek help in diagnosing and preventing prostate and testicular cancers.

With his millions as a soccer player along with many endorsement deals, WT Football estimated that Alisson Becker's net worth is around €9 million ($9.37 million).

Alisson has a stunning villa back home in Brazil and is happily married to Natalia Loewe. They have a daughter together.
