A German man wearing a bullet-proof vest and also heavily armed tried to get inside the US embassy in Paraguay last Tuesday. However, he was stopped, detained, and is now in the custody of Paraguayan authorities.

German news outlet DW reported that he tried to enter the US Embassy in Paraguay without the required documentation. The US Embassy in the South American country has not issued a statement on the matter yet.

The German man has been identified as Philipp Kolberg and was driving into the embassy while wearing a bulletproof vest. Authorities became suspicious of the German national because he did not have an appointment or documents.

Currently, the German consulate in Asuncion, Paraguay is working with local police to obtain the man's information. He is reportedly a mechanic for tractors and trucks from Independencia, which is a town in Southern Paraguay where many German immigrants live.

However, Commander Fleitas stated that "he called the embassy asking to speak to a diplomatic representative but the person who attended his call said he should contact the German embassy." Soon after this, Kolberg arrived in front of the US embassy, leading to his arrest by local police as well as the embassy's private guards.

There are still no details as to what these threats to his life are, and Kolberg has not yet spoken to the press about why he tried to get inside the US embassy. However, Paraguayan officials found that he was armed.

German Man Who Tried To Break Into US Embassy Was Heavily Armed

After the German man was arrested, Paraguayan police searched his vehicle and found that Kolberg was heavily armed as he tried to get into the embassy.

According to synonyms City Telegraph, Commander Fleitas confirmed that they found a Glock pistol, a rifle equipped with a telescopic sight, and a drone inside the vehicle that Kolberg drove to the US embassy in Paraguay. They also found around 30 to 50 bullets inside.

Paraguayan police also discovered a device that would allow the pistol to fire like an automatic weapon. Whether the German national was planning to attack the US embassy or use these weapons for self-defense in light of his claims that he was threatened is still unknown.

Police have also not revealed if he had been charged, as he was only arrested for trying to get into the embassy without proper documentation or an appointment.
