Several cities will be receiving $291 SNAP benefits 2024 for February next week. While thousands of checks will be sent, only some states will receive them.

According to Tododisca, nine checks are expected to arrive this week, but only in some states. It should be noted, though, that some SNAP benefit checks have already been sent to their recipients, and the schedule of checks being sent varies from state to state.

An example of this would be that a beneficiary from California would not get their SNAP Food Stamps payments on the same day as a beneficiary from Massachusetts, so knowing the timing of payments is key to planning out your budget.

In some cities and states, payments are expected to be released before this week ends. These include Alabama, Delaware, Georgia, Indiana, Louisiana, Maryland, Missouri, Michigan, Mississippi, New Mexico, North Carolina, Ohio, Puerto Rico, Tennessee, and Washington. Meanwhile, some states and cities, such as Florida and Texas, will be sending theirs out by the end of the month.

Another important reminder is to check your EBT card balance, so you know if the state has already sent your SNAP benefits for the month and if these are already available to use.

What About the SNAP Benefits Payments for March?

As for those who already received their SNAP Benefits payments, the next one could arrive as early as March 1, though this depends on each state, city, or territory. Some states, such as Alaska and California, begin sending payments as early as March 1. However, some states, such as Hawaii, send theirs a bit later, with Hawaii sending its SNAP payments on March 3.

Texas and Florida are both expected to send out their March payment checks from March 1 to 28, while California has a smaller window, March 1 to 10, and so does Illinois. Alaska is expected to send all of its SNAP payments on March 1, while Puerto Rico will send its checks from March 4-22.

As Newsweek noted, "Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack recently wrote to numerous states to ask them to address issues with the administration and delivery of SNAP benefits." This came after the publication found that several SNAP benefits recipients were left waiting months for a decision regarding their applications.

SNAP Benefits Expected To Have Major Changes in 2024

The Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), considered the biggest federal nutrition assistance program in the US, is also expected to undergo several changes this year, according to Yahoo! Finance.

Those eligible to receive SNAP Benefits will change with what the USDA calls the "able-bodied adults without dependents" (ABAWD) time limit, with new groups of individuals being excluded from the ABAWD time limit.

Before, ABAWDs 18 to 50 had work requirements, as they had to work at least 80 hours a month, participate in a work program at least 80 hours a month, or participate in a combination of work and work program hours for a total of at least 80 hours a month. This has now been expanded to people aged 52 and will soon expand to age 54 by October 2024.
