American actress, producer, author, director and singer Jennifer Love Hewitt is confirmed to be joining the cast of the CBS crime drama show "Criminal Minds."

Time reports that CBS announced on Tuesday that Hewitt has joined the "CM" cast as a series regular. Hewitt will reportedly be playing an undercover agent named Kate Callahan, who worked for the FBI before working for the Behavioral Analysis Unit.

"We're thrilled to introduce a new special agent by adding the very talented Jennifer Love Hewitt to our amazing cast," said Erica Messer, CBS showrunner and executive producer in a statement.

Messer continued, "Many of us on the show have enjoyed working with her over the years and look forward to again. We have exciting storylines planned for her character and the entire BAU team as we head into our 10th season."

This isn't the first time that the 35-year-old actress has lent her talent to CBS. Hewitt reportedly starred in the hit CBS show, "The Ghost Whisperer" from 2005 to 2010 as the character Melinda Gordon.

While playing the role of Melinda, Hewitt won a 2007 and 2008 Saturn award for Best Actress on Television.

In addition to the "Ghost Whisperer," Hewitt has also appeared in the Lifetime TV series "The Client List" from 2012 to 2013. "The Client List" was eventually made into a pilot movie where Hewitt reprised her role.

So far, Hewitt has yet to go public and talk about joining the cast of "Criminal Minds."

"Criminal Minds" first premiered on Sept. 22, 2005 on CBS as an American police-procedural show.

As per CBS, the series "revolves around an elite team of FBI profilers who analyze the country's most twisted criminal minds, anticipating their next moves before they strike again. The Behavioral Analysis Unit's most experienced agent is David Rossi, a founding member of the BAU who returns to help the team solve new cases. The team is lead by Special Agent Aaron Hotchner, a strong profiler who is able to gain people's trust and unlock their secrets. Other members Special Agent Derek Morgan, an expert on obsessional crimes; Special Agent Dr. Spencer Reid, a classically misunderstood genius whose social IQ is as low as his intellectual IQ is high; Jennifer 'J.J.' Jareau, the team's confident unit liaison who was called to a top Pentagon job but returns to the BAU under mysterious circumstances; and Penelope Garcia, a computer wizard who helps research the cases."

The "Criminal Minds" cast also includes Joe Mantegna, Thomas Gibson, Shemar Moore and A.J. Cook.

The tenth season of "Criminal Minds" premieres on Oct. 1 on CBS at 9 p.m. ET. Will you be watching?
