Novak Djokovic and Andy Murray will collide in the 2014 U.S. Open tennis men's quarterfinals, while Serena Williams will also look to advance to the semifinals when she faces Flavia Pennetta on Wednesday at Arthur Ashe Stadium.

Djokovic, the top-seeded player in the tournament, will look to move one step closer to his fifth-straight U.S. Open final appearance, but Murray is determined to stop the Serb on his tracks.

Murray, who advanced to the quarterfinals with a straight-set win against Jo-Wilfried Tsonga on Monday, believes that he has what it takes to defeat Djokovic in their highly anticipated match.

The eighth-seeded Briton has two Grand Slam titles -- the 2012 U.S. Open and 2013 Wimbledon. Curiously, Murray defeated Djokovic in the finals of both events, and he believes that those two victories could be a factor on Wednesday night.

"They obviously will help. It's more -- I wouldn't say in terms of getting confidence more. It's just having that experience of playing those matches," Murray said on Monday via the tournament's official website. "They were both very long, tough matches, as well. So I know that I can last those matches against him. I mean, I have said it a number of times: anything can happen in a couple of days."

The winner of the Djokovic-Murray match will advance to the semifinals against the winner of the quarterfinal match between Milos Raonic of Canada and Ken Nishikori of Japan.

On the women's side, Serena Williams, who is eyeing a third straight title in a Grand Slam event, will go up against Flavia Pennetta of Italy, who will be playing in a U.S. Open quarterfinal for the fifth time in her career.

Williams, a 17-time Grand Slam champion, will be a favorite to win against the 11th-seeded Italian, but the top-seeded tennis superstar said that she is not expecting a walk in the park on Wednesday.

"I don't think I have easy matches against her," Williams said. "I think she plays really well. I think the older she gets the better she plays, to be honest. It is not an easy matchup for me. We played in Cincinnati. I won. But she played well."
