Tuesday's Apple announcement focused on two new iPhones and a wearable device, but it also made mentions to the new iOS 8 that will debut alongside the new phones.

In iOS 8, Apple is focusing on health and workouts through the Health app. It was thought that this app would be called the HealthKit app but in Tuesday's livestream of the Apple announcement, Apple referred to it simply as Health.

The Health app will work the best with the new Apple Watch but it will also work with your iOS 8 devices.

Health is an app that tracks physical activity you have completed throughout the day. It will pair with other third party apps so that you can continue logging the workouts and stats in those apps and they will be transferred to the Health app.

The Apple Watch will be loaded with two additional apps: the activity app which monitors your movements throughout the day and the Workout app which monitors your workouts.

Health will not only help your workouts, but it will keep track of your vital information, sleep, allergies, emergency contacts and much more.

Don't worry about others accessing your personal data from the Health app because it will be encrypted with your TouchID or pass code and only you will be able to access it.

You will be able to choose which data you want to share with other apps. For instance, if you have a nutrition app and log your meals, you will be able to sync your data from that app to the Health app.

All of your progress and data can be stored in the iCloud for easy transferability between devices.
