Some Jacksonville Jaguars fans have been so desperate for something new that they planned a rally earlier this week to push their team to sign free agent quarterback Tim Tebow.

After media outlets spread the word and a fan website promoted the rally, barely anyone showed up. According to the Orlando Sentinal, only about a dozen people attended the rally, and most importantly, the Jaguars never signed Tebow.

As it goes, that rally seems to be just about as disappointing as the quarterback's career is at this point. Tebow sunk to new lows this season as the former Heisman Trophy winner remains a free agent after a failed attempt to win a roster spot as a backup quarterback for the New England Patriots.

And let's be honest here, there would be no Tebow rally if the Jaguars were not in the same state where Tebow made a name for himself as a college quarterback. Sooner or later - if it hasn't already - the leftover hype that was built up about Tebow during his college days will fade away just like his dreams of being a solid NFL quarterback.

Besides one miraculous season in Denver when Tebow led the team to the playoffs - and a playoff victory - the lefty has mostly fallen off the map in his NFL career compared to his dominant college days in Florida. He never played a significant role during his tenure in New York with the Jets and he barely held on to a roster spot with the Patriots before getting cut before the season even began.

If Tebow does find a way to get signed as an NFL quarterback this season, there's one thing that is almost certain: His name won't be number 1 on the depth chart.
