During an interview with the Sun on Sunday, Nicki Minaj's mother, Carol Maraj spoke out about Minaj's difficult childhood growing up with an abusive father.

Maraj revealed how her husband, Robert would terrorize her and her children.

"My husband used to get high on cocaine and alcohol and would come home and terrorize the whole family," Maraj told the Sun. "Some nights, while my children were sleeping, my husband would come in intoxicated. He would be very menacing and threaten me, calling me a whole lot of names. My children would sit up in their beds crying and wait it out. He would bring so much fear to them, they wouldn't know his next move."

Minaj has also been candid in regards to addressing her tumultuous childhood, InTouch Weekly reports.

During a 2010 interview with Rolling Stone, Minaj revealed how as a child, she would pray that she could be rich to help her mother and family.

"I would go in my room and kneel down at the foot of my bed and pray that God would make me rich so I could take care of my mother," she revealed.

The Queens rapper also offered up advice to the husbands and fathers that are abusive in their homes.

"It's the price you pay when you abuse drugs and alcohol. Maybe one day your daughter will be famous and talk to every magazine about it, so think about that, dads out there who want to be crazy."

Though Minaj appears stronger despite the turmoils she experienced throughout her childhood, her former manager, Big Fendi recently revealed that the Young Money rapper is actually brainwashed.

During an interview with Power 105.1 "The Breakfast Club" show, Fendi revealed that Waka Flaka's manager and mother, Debra Antney brainwashed Minaj early on in her career.

[Debra] was like 'I like your artist. We need to set up a meeting'...Nicki went out there and then Debbie brainwashed her," Fendi revealed.

He continued, "Debbie got out there-Debbie got her little tactics. Debbie hit her with the 'Nicki Minaj, I don't know about that name. He's trying to take you in the wrong direction.' So, I'm like 'Hold on, Debbie. You my homegirl. How you poisoning my artist after I put you on to her'...Meanwhile, my contract with Wayne/Young Money is still moving. So, basically she tried to wait til my contract expired before she signed with Young Money...I still got that contract to this day. That's what I'm in court with."
