The United States and Haiti are scheduled to play one another in FIFA World Cup soccer qualifying action on Monday, Oct. 20 at 7:30 p.m. EST

Whether it's men or women, soccer is the most popular sport in the world, and the FIFA World Cup is the most popular sporting event on the planet earth.

The 2015 FIFA Women's World Cup isn't scheduled to begin until June of next year, but qualifying has begun. Every continent has many countries who want and desire to play in the biggest soccer tournament in the world, but only a few get that exclusive opportunity.

North America's competing confederation, CONCACAF, is currently underway. The top three teams from this tournament will play in the 2015 World Cup. Canada, the host country, qualifies automatically.

Latin Post previews this CONCACAF game and predicts a winner:

United States

In their last FIFA World Cup game, the United States lost to Japan in the final game in a thrilling penalty shootout. That marked the first time the United States had lost in the FIFA Championship, and the first time an Asian team had won it all.

English-born Jillian Ellis is taking over as the team's head coach. Goalkeeper Hope Solo has been in the news lately for the wrong reasons, but she got a shutout in her last game against Guatemala in a 5-0 victory. This squad has a terrific defense led by team captain Christie Rampone. Heather O'Reilly leads the middle fielders, while Abby Wambach directs the offense.

The United States is placed in Group A with Haiti, Guatemala and Trinidad and Tobago. Currently, the United States leads the group at 2-0. Costa Rica has already clinched Group B, and the winner of Group A will face the runner up of Group B. There's a good chance we could see the United States face Mexico in the elimination round knockout stage.

Haiti

The Haiti National Team is also placed in Group A. Haiti is 1-1 with a win against Guatemala thanks to Linsday Zullo's lone goal. Unfortunately, they did lose to Trinidad and Tobago, 0-1.

Haiti has a strong defense with young talent. Jean-Jacques Pierre, Mechack Jerome and Frantz Bertin lead the defensive unit against the powerful American squad. Haiti has allowed just one goal in their two games of play so far. The weakness in this team in their offense.

If Haiti can somehow win this game, there is a chance they can advance to the knockout round. The top two teams will advance from Group A, and with the United States already having six points, just one spot is available. Unfortunately for Haiti, they do not control their own destiny. Not only must they defeat the United States, but they need Guatemala to beat Trinidad and Tobago.

Even if Haiti does not place in the top three, they can still qualify for the 2015 FIFA World Cup. The fourth place team in this tournament will face Ecuador, who finished in third place during the 2014 Copa America tournament.

Schedule, Where to Watch

The United States and Haiti are scheduled to play one another on Monday, Oct. 20 at 7:30 p.m. EST on Fox Sports 1. The game will be played at RFK Stadium in Washington, D.C.

Predictions

Haiti will put up a fight, but the United States just has too many great players. Not only is Solo a great goalkeeper, but she rarely faces difficult shots because of the great United States defense. This squad is the No. 1 ranked national team in the world for a reason.

United States wins 3-1
