Tracy Morgan has a severe brain injury after being in a highway crash earlier this year. On Tuesday, Morgan's lawyer said he may never fully recover, notes Time.

On June 7, a Wal-Mart truck crashed into the limo van that Morgan and other comedians were in. Since then, Morgan has been in recovery.

"He's fighting to get better, and if there's a chance for him to be back to be back to the Tracy Morgan he once was, he's going to try to do that," Benedict Morelli, Morgan's lawyer, said. "He's still fighting and trying to live his life at the same time and trying to get better, and he's just not better. We're hoping and praying to get him back to where he was. But the jury's out."

The driver of the Wal-Mart truck had been awake for more than 24 hours and fell asleep while driving, according to People.

Wal-Mart said it wasn't responsible for the crash and that a seatbelt could have prevented some of the injuries. This statement caused Morgan to speak out.

"After I heard what Wal-Mart said in court I felt I had to speak out," he said. "I can't believe Wal-Mart is blaming me for an accident that they caused. My friends and I were doing nothing wrong. I want to thank my fans for sticking with me during this difficult time. I love you all. I'm fighting hard every day to get back."

Morgan was in rehab following the accident. He was released in mid-July. At that time, Morelli said that Morgan was "really having a tough time."

Morelli also slammed Wal-Mart, who, according to him, initially said it would take full responsibility for the accident. He called the company's statements "disingenuous."
