Noise-canceling headphones give you the peace and solace of hearing just your music. Bose has been making them for years, but are they the best headphones on the market today?

Merrill Miller, sales associate at Bose Factory store in Johnson Creek, Wisconsin said that Bose is doing a lot of new things and really focusing on the quality of the sound.

Miller gave a demonstration of several of Bose's headphone sets. From small ear buds all the way up to noise-canceling headphones, Bose has something for every audio aficionado.

I tried a demo of the QuietComfort 25 headphones while several different noises, include a train, plane, and even city noise, played in the background. I put the headphones in and pressed each background noise button. It was a great experience with these headphones, but they sure are pricey at $299 for a new pair.

Bose is even offering their noise-canceling headphones in a small headset form for active individuals. These too are very expensive at $299 for a new pair.

Miller insisted that Bose's prices are due to the high sound quality.

A good offer that Bose gives to those trying to save a few bucks are the factory restored headphones. These are items that were taken out of a box and restored to factory standards. They also come with the standard warranty that the new ones come with. Often they are $50 or more off the price of a new pair.

Beats by Dre offers a noise-canceling headphone too, but the sound quality just cannot compare with Bose.

In fact, Bose and Beats had to settle a lawsuit because Bose accused Beats of using very simliar technology for their noise-canceling headphones, 9to5Mac reports.

Meanwhile, similar noise-canceling headphones can be purchased from another premium audio brand called Sennheiser. These are quality headsets, which are costly with prices as high as $249.95, but are worth every penny.
