New Year's 2015 has come and gone. If you have that pesky weight-loss resolution, you likely are dreading going to the crowded gym and trying to jump on the machines.

So, why not buy your own?

Too expensive? Not always.

Let's take a look at some exercise equipment you should definitely have in your home.

A Swiss Ball is a staple for all gyms and homes. It is very versatile and increases flexibility and core strength. You can get a Swiss Ball for about $15 from Wal-Mart.

A weight set can take up valuable space in your home. Luckily there are adjustable dumbells. The PowerBlock adjustable dumbells quickly change from 3 pounds to 24 pounds or anywhere in between. They have a 15-year home warranty as well. Sears has them for $169.99.

You will need some cardio equipment. Treadmills are often harmful to knees, so try either an elliptical machine or a stationary bike.

The popular way to ride a stationary bike these days is sitting rather than standing. It's comfortable and better on your back. They are known as recumbent bikes. Wal-Mart has a hybrid recumbent bike and elliptical machine combination machine called the Pro-Form Hybrid Elliptical and Recumbent Bike for $369.00. It's highly rated and comes with a heart rate monitor system.

Yoga and stretching is important so in addition to your Swiss Ball, a good yoga mat and yoga DVD are staples to your at home gym.

Some affordable items like a jump rope or a punching bag can complete your in-home gym.

Make sure to properly stretch and consult your doctor before beginning any workout routine.
