On Thursday, movie megastar Angelina Jolie had a very important figure approach her after a screening of "Unbroken," which she directed, at the Vatican.

Pope Francis approached Jolie after the movie was over to speak with her on his thoughts about "Unbroken," which is about the life of Louis Zamperini, a World War II hero who fought for the United States. The pope was unable to attend the screening of "Unbroken" but did take the time to meet with Jolie and her children afterwards nevertheless, People reports

"Pope Francis, aware of the incredible life story of Louis Zamperini, graciously welcomed the opportunity to view the film," Universal Studios said.

In the film, Zamperini becomes a Japanese prisoner of war on the island of Nauru. Zamperini entered the war as a former Olympian, as aspect of his life that receives attention throughout the film.

A host of Vatican leaders, along with Zamperini's son Luke, viewed the screening of "Unbroken" at the Casina Pio IV, which is the headquarters of the Pontifical Academy of Sciences, as well as the Pontifical Academy of Social Sciences. 

Jolie demonstrated grace and gratitude when speaking about the opportunity to screen her film at the Vatican.

"To be invited to screen 'Unbroken' at the Vatican is an honor and a tribute to Louie's legacy as a man of faith and someone who exemplified the power of forgiveness and the strength of the human spirit," Jolie said.

After the screening of her film, Jolie was taken to a room where the Pope holds hearings and was given a rosary, which is something that is handed out to every Vatican visitor.

So what's next?

Jolie is set to co-star with her husband, Brad Bitt, in "By the Sea," which is due out this year. She will then co-star with Jack Black in "Kung Fu Panda 3" in 2016.
