It was previously reported Marilyn Odessa slammed Chiquis Rivera for using her late mother, Jenni Rivera, as a way to achieve fame, but now, Marisela Odessa, Marilyn's mother, is speaking out in her defense.

In an interview with several members of the press, Marisela said Marilyn did not insult Chiquis, according to "El Gordo y La Flaca." She first said that everything is fine between the two, despite what many are calling a feud.

Marilyn reportedly wrote on social media that Chiquis is not talented, but Marisela denied her daughter said that.

"She didn't say that," Marisela said. "She didn't say something like that. I don't know exactly what she said, but I don't believe she said that."

Whether or not the attack on Chiquis was real, the singer did respond to the comment. In an interview with "Ventaneando," Chiquis said she didn't have any issues with Marilyn but was upset at the words she used.

"It doesn't seem fair," she said. "We are both in [the music industry], and to say those things doesn't seem right to me. I, on the contrary, wish her the best in the world for her career. I know how difficult it is to be in this medium, especially for a woman. Instead of knocking each other down ... I think we need to support each other."

According to Chiquis, she replied to the comment not to start more drama, but because she wanted Marilyn to know she saw her message.

Chiquis is enjoying success in her career, and in 2014, she was invited to sing at a few award shows. Now, the director of the Mexican edition of Playboy is looking to work with Chiquis, according to Diario Basta!

"I'd like to work with her," he said. "I already sent her a proposal and I'd love to have a positive response. I spoke to her manager; after this first contact, there will be more. It would be an issue that the reader would appreciate because it seems to me that she has all the qualities to appear in a magazine like Playboy."
