Pedro Fernandez is going to start a new chapter of his career by joining Telemundo's "La Voz Kids," but a source said it almost worked out differently.

The actor formerly known as Chava on "Hasta El Fin Del Mundo" said he had to drop out of his Televisa telenovela because of health reasons, but he was then supposedly in talks to join Azteca Ajusco, notes TV Notas.

A source alleges that Fernandez didn't sign on to Ajusco because he and the network could not reach a financial deal. Therefore, Fernandez chose to go to Telemundo.

The singer and actor recently spoke about his decision to join "La Voz Kids."

"I am very happy," he said, according to People En Español. "I am very excited about this project. I was attracted to the show because of the kids. I hope we find big surprises, lots of talent and that special shine that some people have for music."

Fernandez will be judging alongside Daddy Yankee and Natalia Jimenez. Each singer tackles a different genre of music. Fernandez admitted to not having known either judge, but he did call both of them talented.

Fernandez said critiquing the children will be easy, but he hopes that his long experience in the music industry will prove valuable.

It has been rumored that Fernandez left "Hasta El Fin Del Mundo" because his wife was jealous of his kissing scenes with former co-star Marjorie de Sousa. Although he has denied these rumors, they have continued to persist.

"Plain and simple, cycles close and open others," he said. "These are cycles that I hope to start with much success and on the right foot."

Fernandez added he had not been asked to take part in a telenovela for Telemundo.

Julian Gil, who plays Patricio on "Hasta El Fin Del Mundo," told "El Gordo y La Flaca" that he didn't miss Fernandez, who was replaced by David Zepeda.

"Me, miss Pedrito?" he said. "No. Truthfully, with David, it's going really well."
