For Miss Universe Paulina Vega, living in New York will prove challenging.

The Colombian beauty queen will live in the American city for a year, and, so far, her stay has been marked by cold weather. On her arrival, it was rainy, and the "Despierta America" host, who planned to take her to Central Park, had to change plans.

"You don't see this in Barranquilla or Colombia," Vega said, referring to the weather. "They told me it's over in March, then in April and now in May."

Vega explained that someone told her there would be six more weeks of winter.

The 2014 Miss Universe crown was inspired by the New York skyline. Vega said she is the first person to use a different crown.

While in New York, she plans to visit Central Park often. Vega said the park is two blocks away from her house.

Vega is sad she is going to miss Barranquilla's Carnival, and she's also going to miss the food. Luckily, the Univision host took her to a Colombian restaurant in the city. Though Vega definitely wanted empanadas, it was the sancocho that really excited her.

At the restaurant, she posed for pictures and even got up to dance.

Vega's cousin Ariadna Gutierrez was recently crowned Miss Colombia. She recently defended herself after some said she was overweight.

"I don't eat like that," Gutierrez said, according to Noticias Caracol via El Espectador. "You always have to take care of yourself to be perfect. I am not overweight. I feel perfect and I look really good in front of the cameras."

She is already preparing for next year's Miss Universe competition.

"Miss Universe requires a lot of effort and a perfect body," she said.
