The console war between the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One is dominating the gaming field this year. According to NVIDIA, however, the PC is the best player on the field.

"We are proposing small form-factor PCs to be a viable alternative to the next-gen consoles," Matt Wright, consumer sales manager at NVIDIA, told MCVUK. "Enthusiast players want the ultimate games system, and that is the PC."

NVIDIA's "ultimate game system" has kept up with next-generation consoles with their launch of small form-factor PCS that can fit comfortably in a living room. Wright says these developments make the PC a better gaming device than the PS4 or Xbox One.

"The PC platform is far superior to any console when it comes to gaming, plus you get all the extra functionality that a computer brings," Wright said

PCs might be powerful gaming machines, but many people are intimidated by their complexity. According to Wright, NVIDIA is working to change this.

"We want to make PC gaming as simple as possible, and we think that it already becoming much more relevant and appealing to casual gamers," he said.

Wright draws evidence from popular PC games.

"Steam now has more users than Xbox Live," Wright argued. "There is a whole new generation who grew up playing on PC with titles like Minecraft or World of Tanks. There's a huge community who love playing their games on PC."

Nvidia does have some accomplishments to back-up its argument. The PC is currently the United Kingdom's fastest growing platform, UKIE data says according to MCVUK.
