All Xbox One users will be required to install a mandatory update after today.

Those who use Xbox One's "Instant On" feature, which allows users to turn on their console from a low-power state by saying, "Xbox On," saw the update available on Tuesday. Others will see the update today.

According to Microsoft's Major Nelson, the update fixes several issues with the new console. SmartGlass issues experienced when entering and exiting connected standby will be fixed. Problems experienced by users re-joining multi-players games, errors with inconsistent notifications and problems with Xbox One's dashboard performance are also addressed. In addition, the update will enhance Xbox One's TV, content update and system update, as well as improve the wireless networking driver for better connectivity.

All gamers will be required to download and apply the update after today.

Microsoft also says that "quite a few" updates are coming in 2014, which are "based on the community feedback we've been seeing." One of these updates will hopefully address Xbox One's party system, which gamers have complained about via forums, Reddit and even a gamer-created website called Xbox Feedback. According to disappointed Xbox One users, the video game console's party invitation process is frustrating and inadequate.

"Party chat and invites are flawed," a Reddit user said. "Mainly because you can't invite (like on 360), the new auto invite assumes you have one friend (or many with the exact same taste in games) and making a party or joining it is painfully long all buried deep with a unintuitive navigation design. You can't even boot people."

In addition to issues with inviting, the Smart Match feature is also criticized.

Larry Hyrb, Microsoft director of Xbox Live programming, assured gamers that Microsoft is working on the issue.

"I had a meeting today about much of this and I can say that things will get better," Hyrb said via Reddit. "I can't offer a timeline of a list of what will be addressed first, but we are aware of the issue and things will get better."

Hyrb has said that he will pass the Xbox Feedback website to Microsoft.
