Damon Dash and Lee Daniels have settled a $25 million suit that the former Roca-A-Fella Records co-founder claimed entitled him to participate in the success of such films as "The Butler" and "Precious," as well as the smash-hit Fox TV show "Empire."

According to The Hollywood Reporter, attorneys for Dash are now trumpeting the dismissal of the suit as a "creative" win, resolving the issue of the $2 million their client once lent to Daniels. Lead attorney Natraj Bhushan celebrated the deal as a "creative, fair" settlement that "calls for them to work together in the not-so-distant future."

The 42-year-old Dash first filed suit in New York Supreme Court in 2014, alleging that "he supported Daniels so that the filmmaker could produce the 2004 flick 'The Woodsman.'"

Jay Z's former Roc Nation running mate and manager claims that, in return for the money, he obtained a written agreement from Daniels that gave him executive producer credits, 50 percent of rights on the 2004 film and a guarantee that the investment would be repaid with interest.

Over time, Dash further claimed he helped promote Daniels' career and projects by getting celebrities like Kanye West and Mariah Carey to perform in promotional support of several of his projects. He also alleges in lieu of repayment he and Daniels entered an agreement that allowed him to roll over the debt to other films, such as "Shadowboxer."

In his suit, attorneys for Dash argued the terms of those earlier agreements should allow him to now benefit, in the form of credits, ownership and compensation, from some of the successes of some of his more recent works.

Now that all is settled, Dash insists he's glad it's over.

"I never like having a beef with anyone -- especially from my culture," said Dash, who is now working on a film about poet and author Charles Bukowski.
