There will be lots of drama and laughs in Monday's all-new episode of "Jane the Virgin" when Rogelio gets a visit from his sassy mother Liliana, played by legendary actress Rita Moreno.

In the next episode, "Chapter Eighteen," Jane and Rafael will face new challenges when Jane jeopardizes the hotel's liquor license.

The trailer video also teases that Emmy, Oscar, Tony and Grammy award winning star Rita Moreno will make a guest appearance on the show as Rogelio's overprotective and feisty mom. Although she and Rogelio have a great relationship, it becomes clear that she does not approve of his relationship with Xiomara.

During an exclusive interview with The Associated Press, Moreno opened up about her character, Liliana, who is an imperious mother that inserts herself into the lives of Jane's parents.

"She is a real diva, a rude woman who spouts off mean things to people," Moreno said. "When she comes on the scene you find out that Rogelio is a real mama's boy."

Moreno said her character does not get along with XO for "such a hilarious reason. I don't want to give it away because it's silly and funny. But in telenovelas, anything can happen."

The also 83-year-old actress revealed she was honored to appear on the series once she learned how much the show's star, Gina Rodriguez, admire her extensive career.

"I was approached (for the role) because of Gina," Moreno said. "She told me some wonderful things about how I inspired her, great stuff that made me feel very proud."

Moreno also reflected on how much Hollywood roles for Latinas have changed since she landed the trailblazing part of Anita in Broadway's "West Side Story" back in 1961.

"It astonishes me that I've come this far. I'm humbled by it and thrilled by it," she said recalling that most movie roles offer to her throughout her career have been what she calls "dusky maiden" roles that play up Latino stereotypes.

"I can't remember playing roles in movies that did not require an accent and very dark makeup. ... Even in 'West Side Story,' it was (director) Jerome Robbins' idea that all of the Sharks have very dark skin, because he wanted a contrast between the Sharks and the Jets," she said. "I remember resenting that. "I thought, 'I'm Puerto Rican. I don't look like that."

She's pleased to see evolution in the entertainment industry that has led to shows including CW's "Jane The Virgin," focused on a Latino family.

"There's actually a lot of progress. I don't think it's enough but, my God, when you compare that to when I was a young woman in movies, it's totally different," Moreno said.

According to Cater Matt, the synopsis reads as follows:

"Jane (Gina Rodriguez) unintentionally ruins Rafael's (Justin Baldoni) chances of getting the hotel's liquor license back, but her attempt to help fix it means missing the Villanueva's Easter festivities. Rafael gets information about his birth mother from the private detective he has hired, but doesn't like what he hears. Rogelio's (Jaime Camil) mother, Sofia (Rita Morena), comes for a visit but she and Xo (Andrea Navedo) do not have the best history. Alba (Ivonne Coll) takes a big step in the romance arena, but is shocked when she learns what Edward (guest star Cheech Marin) does for a living. Meanwhile, Petra (Yael Grobglas) becomes more convinced about the secret she thinks she has stumbled upon and enlists Michael's (Brett Dier) help to get confirmation."

Season 1, Episode 18 of "Jane The Virgin," entitled "Chapter Eighteen," will air on Monday, April 13, on The CW.
