If you want to own a (morbid) piece of movie history, you can now buy Paul Walker's Fast and Furious car, which is up for sale for $1.4 million.

The Huffington Post is reporting that the Nissan Skyline GT-R that Walker drove in Fast and Furious 4 was originally up on the auction block for about $400,000. However, when Walker died in a fiery car crash on Nov. 30, the German auctioneer jumped the price up significantly. A known car enthusiast, Walker never owned this Nissan Skyline GT-R, although he did tell Collider in a 2009 interview that the Skyline was one of the most enjoyable cars he had driven in the series.

It will likely not be an American experiencing the joys of Walker's GT-R from Fast & Furious. As Autoblog notes, it's "illegal to import [the car] for street use," and it ended up in Germany after filming in order to avoid its destruction by the United States government. Then again, if you're an American with $1,374,700 to spend on a car, you might also be able to swing the cost of a small place outside of the U.S.

According to Fox News Latino, the Japan-only Nissan became one of the most sought-after cars in the U.S. -- mostly because it was illegal to import under federal auto safety and emissions rules. To get around that for Fast & Furious filming, importer Kaizo Industries bought eight chassis without engines in Japan, shipped them to the U.S. as kit cars, and then installed engines.

Only one survived filming without being torn up or wrecked, Motoramic reported. But in 2009, the government cracked down on Kaizo and other GT-R importers, saying their actions were illegal. The film's blue GT-R was seized along with nearly 50 other cars. The owners were given 60 days to either take the cars overseas or have them crushed.
