Now that he has officially removed himself from the One Direction as of March 2015, singer-songwriter Zayn Malik has taken the action one step further and removed the band ID from his Twitter Profile, which now only says @zaynnmalik, as reported by People.

The move seems to more officially confirming his departure, more so since his fans have been hopeful over the past two months that it would just be some cosmic joke and he would be back.

His fans have not been very happy with the notion though. They even coveted a worldwide trend with "#YouWillAlwaysBeZaynMalik1D," which happened almost immediately after Malik made the Twitter change.

Malik actually spent more time milking the transition than the band's management, who quickly posted a photo to the site of One Direction without him in it. So one can only assume that he is finally following their lead. It also took about three weeks for them to remove Malik from their bio on the band's page, which is somewhat revealing that they are to trying to move forward without him and rebrand their image to reflect it without him in it.

Self-denial from his fans have been awash all over social media, with some even issuing gentle and heartfelt tributes. Reactions, though, have been somewhat tamer than when he shaved his head.

Even Stephen Hawking weighed in on the issue while speaking via hologram at the Sydney Opera House, as reported by BuzzFeed.

"My advice to any heartbroken young girl is to pay close attention to the study of theoretical physics. Because one day there may well be proof of multiple universes," Hawking said to the audience. "It would not be beyond the realms of possibility that somewhere outside of our own universe lies another different universe. And in that universe, Zayn is still in One Direction."
