The Asian tech giant has reportedly filed patent for a "head tracking" technology, reports Into Mobile. The patent was filed July of last year - a few months following the release of the S5's predecessor.

The head tracking patent, with application number 13175242.0, was filed July 5, 2013 and has been published January 8 of this year, reveals the European Patent Office document.

Making use of the front-facing camera, the device is able to track head gestures and prompts it to respond accordingly. "Commands could be carried out by movement of the head, a wink, snarl or even a nod," notes Into Mobile.

Though numerous reports are suggesting that the head tracking or head gesture technology patent by Samsung will most likely make it to the Galaxy S5, the document made no mention of the device to sport the patented technology.

Should the Galaxy S5 come with head tracking technology, the device will surely bump up the phone's smart features - something that Samsung has claimed to have failed to do with the S4.

The Samsung Galaxy S5 is also rumored to come with many other smart features including an iris scanner which serves as an unlock feature for the smartphone. The possibility of the S5 sporting an eye scanner has been mentioned by Samsung VP exec in a previous report.

According to her, the company is "studying the possibility but can't really say whether [they] will have it or not on the S5."

Aside from the alleged eye scanner, the S5 is also rumored to come with Sharp's 5.25-inch QHD panel and an 16MP ISOCELL camera with Optical Image Stabilization.

None of these have been confirmed by Samsung as of writing, but the entirety of the Samsung Galaxy S5 will be revealed come March or April as noted by Samsung's Executive Vice President, Lee Young Hee.
