The second season of "The Flash" could see a new love interest for the superhero.

According to TVLine, The CW is currently casting a major recurring role that will be introduced in the second season. The role is for Wendy, a "spunky, fun and funny" romantic interest for Barry Allen. Wendy is described as a bright and scientific-minded cop for the Central City PD. The casting call also compares the character to Felicity Smoak from the hit series "Arrow."

The casting is no surprise since at the end of the first season The Flash's true identity was revealed to Iris, his longtime crush. However, she reconciled with Eddie at the end before the character died. While it was suggested that Iris and Barry Allen would be together, superhero romances are always way to complicated and this one suggests a love triangle will surface.

Very little is known about the new season but rumors have suggested that The CW will play with time travel and the many dimensions that were introduced in the comics. However, it is unknown what worlds will be seen. There is also a suggestion that Reverse-Flash will return to the series, but that is not confirmed.

Additionally, The CW has promised to introduce beloved comic characters as well as bring back some of the heroes from the first series and develop them further. There are rumors that Arrow as well as Dr. Martin Stein, Hawkgirl, Rip Hunter and Sara Lance could make special appearances.

The next season of "The Flash" is set to see Grant Gustin return as the Flash/Barry Allen, Candice Patton as Iris West, Carlos Valdes as Cisco Ramon and Tom Cavanagh as Dr. Harrison Welles.

The next season of "The Flash" is slated to premiere on Oct. 6 on the CW and will again air Tuesdays at 8 p.m.
