A PlayStation forum post confirms that PS4 users who are getting the CE-34878-0 error are not alone. In fact several other users of the next gen game console who responded to the thread starter claim to have also faced the same problem.

According to user 'Snake_Inthe_b0X,' his NBA2K14 MyCareer save file has suddenly crashed after several failed attempts at uploading the file onto the cloud service.

"I think my trouble began once I activated "automatic uploads" and my ps4 began moving save files into the cloud. I noticed that one nba 2k14 file repeatedly failed to upload (I checked through "uploads" in the notifications menu). It's possible the data became corrupted during repeated failed uploads," he posted in the PlayStation forum.

Several other users who have encountered the same problem responded, with some saying that they had the issue fixed by getting a replacement. The thought of the CE-34878-0 error being a hardware problem has worried one user who has recently bought Sony's next gen game console.

Other users in the forum think that the error may be an app-related issue. User 'JediRabbit' says that he has called up PlayStation and was told that it was a 'Battlefield 4' problem, even though the error shows up in other games as well.

Sony PlayStation's support page describes error CE-34878-0 as "Application has crashed" and suggests a quick fix to the problem.

According to the game console's support page, gamers are advised to:

Step 1: Close the application, install the latest system software and game update, and restart the system.

Step 2: If the error occurs again, back up your saved data, and then go to [Settings] > [Initialization] and choose [Initialize PS4].

User 'super12challenge' posted another fix on the thread too. According to the said user:

"As soon as you get the error press the ps button and close the application
Navigate to "Settings"
Once in the settings go to "Application Saved Data Management"
Once in there open "Saved Data in System Storage"
Once in there click "Delete" and delete the respective save data
Once you do that you will want to back out all the way to "Application Saved Data Management" But this time open up "Saved Data in Online Storage"
From there go to "Download to System Storage"
Now download your desired save data and that should do it!"

However, 'super12challenge' notes that the proposed fix will only work if gamers have the "Automatic Downloads and Uploads" enabled and if a new save data has not been created right after the error has showed up.

Another user, 'Sephiroth0017,' has resorted to saving game files onto a flash drive.

"What I've done is that as soon as I'm done playing I save ALL my save data in a Flash Drive and works great. I've lost my Assassins Creed save file once but then I started doing this and the file got corrupted a second time but I got it from my flash drive, save it to the PS4 and done, no more losing 30 hours of gameplay," the post read.

Meanwhile, Sony tells CVG, "We are aware of the cases and we appreciate your patience while we investigate."
