Those who have watched the former Disney star's latest film were shocked to see major downgrades in the form of chopped locks and bad skin but the actress says she couldn't care less about it.

In an interview with Nylon Magazine, the actress tells readers all about her major transformation in taking on her role as "Apple" in the new film 'Gimme Shelter.'

"It was the first time I really stepped out of my control zone, physically and material-wise. I'm a little afraid of myself when I watch it," Vanessa Hudgens told Nylon Magazine.

Hudgens' latest movie features her in a role of a pregnant 16-year old, who has ran away from her drug-addict and prostitute mother. The role she played as Apple Bailey had the glamorous star cut her hair short, acquire bad skin and sport accessories like tattoos and nose rings.

The actress has already "warned" viewers and fans of her physical transformation on 'Gimme Shelter' through her Facebook fan page.

"I'm so excited and proud of the work I've been doing and let me tell you, you all are going to be SHOCKED with how I look in this movie. It's crazy sauce!" she posted on her Facebook fan page.

Her controversial appearance in the film had others raising their brow on Hudgens' "not so glamorous" role, says People. But the actress seems to be taking delight on her newly-found, uncommon role.

"I loved looking into the mirror and seeing myself with short hair and bad skin and tattoos," Hudgens said in a report by People.

"The uglier I could make myself, the more giggly I would get on the inside," the actress added.

And as for haters and everyone else who can't seem to appreciate her look on the film, the former Disney star says they should be open about things they don't appreciate.

Specifically, she said, "You hear what you want to hear," in a report by People. "If you're not into something, be open about it. If you don't like me, I don't care," she added.

'Gimme Shelter' has just recently been released January 24. The film also stars Rosario Dawson and Brendan Frasier, who play Hudgens' father.
