A live action film rendition of Prince Charming’s story will be coming to theaters soon. It would certainly appear that Disney has no plans of stopping their film makers from turning classic fairy tales into live action movies with real actors and actresses.

The Hollywood Reporter may have stated that the “Prince Charming” Disney spinoff will be about the charming prince, however, The Guardian has reported that will be about his non-charming brother instead. If this rumor turns out to be true, then it is highly likely that the film will be showing how this other prince has struggled through the years – having to compete with a charming brother whom he has always been compared to.

If this is the plot direction that “Prince Charming” will take, it remains unknown precisely how largely the actual prince will be featured.

Maleficent,” “Alice in Wonderland,” and this year’s “Cinderella” with Richard Madden as Prince Charming and Lily James as the housemaid-turned-princess, have been successful cartoon-to-live-action renditions of known Disney classics. Plus, live action movies of “Pocahontas,” “Beauty and the Beast,” “Dumbo,” “The Jungle Book” and “Mulan” are reportedly going to be in the works pretty soon.

By giving the "Prince Charming" live action movie project the green light, Disney has also expanded its merchandising opportunity, as pointed out by AV Club. For so long, Disney fans only had picture books and dolls molded after princesses. Now, though, Disney is opening its door to a franchise that is based around a prince.

Before “Cinderella,” it is worth noting that Charming was never really given much attention. This upcoming “Prince Charming” solo feature might give Disney fans more information regarding the prince whom they have loved since they were only children.

In Madden’s version, film makers showed another side to the prince - depicting him as a generous and gracious man with a very close relationship to his father. That said, and with a “Prince Charming” spinoff coming soon, fans are curious if Disney will pick up where "Cinderella" left off -- with regards to Prince Charming's character -- or start from scratch.

The “Prince Charming” script was written by Matt Fogel of “Big Mammas: Like Father, Like Son” and the producers are going to be Todd Lieberman, Tripp Vinson and David Hoberman with Alex Young to executive produce. To date, film makers have managed to keep things about the film under wraps, but the script is reportedly going to showcase a "revisionist take" on the classic fairy tale.

Fogel was able to work with known directors Chris Miller and Phil Lord for “Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs.”
