Birdman and Young Thug have both been named in an indictment that alleges they conspired with another man to kill Lil Wayne back in April.

Back then, Wayne's tour bus was fired on as he and his entourage prepared to leave an Atlanta club where he had just performed. Now, WSBTV reporter Mike Petchenik reported it was all part of a scheme to "take down Weezy."

For months now, Wayne and his former mentor Birdman have publicly been at odds over issues ranging from money to the way business is handled at the Cash Money label to which they both belong. While neither Birdman nor Young Thug has been criminally charged in the attempted ambush, prosecutors laid out a chain of circumstances that connect them to alleged shooter Jimmy Winfrey.

Among the connections is Thug's "Halftime" video, which prosecutors point out highlights Winfrey holding an assault rifle when mention of Wayne is made in the song.

According to TMZ, Wayne and his crew were leaving the Compound nightclub when they were attacked in late April just after 3 a.m. In addition to Wayne, other Young Money artists, including Lil twist and Hood, were on one of the buses, though no one was injured.

The bus immediately headed for a nearby hotel where cops were quickly summoned. Investigators instantly began searching for suspects from among those who had been in attendance at the performance and at the club that night.

Wayne reportedly got into verbal altercations with several fans that night, and some people even had to be removed from the club during the set.

Earlier this year, TMZ reported Wayne vowed he would soon leave the Cash Money label, and when he does he will take all his artists with him, including such heavyweights as Nicki Minaj and Drake.
