PC gamers looking forward to play the upcoming "Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain" are in for great news as Konami has announced that the desktop version will also be released on the same date as the console edition.

It was initially said that the PC version for the title will come at a later date than the console versions. "Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain" for Xbox One, Xbox 360, PS4 and PS3 is slated for release on September 1 while the desktop edition comes two weeks after, September 15.

However, Konami was able to keep up with the timeframe in developing the game for the PC and it is confident that everything will be well in time for the new release date.

"We initially did not think it would be possible to get such an epic game out onto PC in time for launch alongside its console counterparts, but all involved have worked diligently to meet the demands of our PC consumers," said Konami President Tomotada Tashiro in a statement.

He added, "Now PC users will be able to explore the vibrant and beautifully-realized locations and set-pieces that elevate Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain beyond all other action titles."

The PC version will now launch on September 1.

While the news of this update for the main game is favorable to a lot of fans of the franchise, there is however, a downside. The "Metal Gear Online" edition will now be delayed for a month following this change.

In the company's statement, it noted that, "As a result of the updated thing, console versions of Metal Gear Online will go live on October 6th, with the PC version set to release in January 2016."

Given that the game is massive in size, the delay seemed inevitable. Konami has already said that it is "200x the size of its prologue" and has "expansive locations" that will take hours to explore and complete.

The change in release date for the online version is a way for Konami to ensure good quality of the game and unwillingness to compromise what they want to deliver to audiences and players.

Meanwhile, those who pre-order the digital version of the upcoming title from Steam will get an additional bonus content, noted Game Rant. The players will have a free copy of the "Metal Gear Solid 5: Ground Zeroes," which is the "prologue mission" for the new title.

"Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain" will be available for both latest and current generation consoles and PC.
