The end of the world is apparently upon us, at least according to some rumors on the internet. A report from Express says that six asteroids will pass through Earth from Sept. 23 to 28.

Rumors that circulated on the internet about the big asteroid that will hit Earth near Puerto Rico say that it will cause destruction in the coastal regions of the U.S., Mexico, Central America, South America and the Caribbean.

NASA experts have released a statement, via NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory's website, saying that there's no reason to worry about a destructive asteroid this September.

"There is no scientific basis, not one shared of evidence that an asteroid or any other celestial object will impact Earth on those dates. If there were any object large enough to do that type of destruction in September, we would have seen something of it by now," said Paul Chodas, the manager of NASA's Near-Earth Object office at the Jet Propulsion Laboratory.

Estimated sizes of the asteroids range from 30 to 280 meters, according to Express. The most recent major asteroid that passed the earth was in June 1908 when the Tunguska asteroid exploded in the atmosphere above Siberia.

According to the same report, a 50-meter lump of extraterrestrial rock fell down the earth, sending earthquakes across Russia and destroying about 80 million trees.

Astronomers at the Near-Earth Object Office in Pasadena, Calif., uses a variety of telescopes to look for potentially dangerous asteroids, comets or any other celestial bodies. No such threat on Earth is seen in the foreseeable future.

Via Space.com, Chodas said, "Again, there is no existing evidence that an asteroid or any other celestial object is on a trajectory that will impact Earth. In fact, not a single one of the known objects has any credible chance of hitting our planet over the next century."

It is not the first time a rumor of devastating asteroid hit the internet according to the website. In 2011, comet "Elenin" was said to inflict destruction on Earth. Probably the most famous is the Mayan calendar prophecy on Dec. 21. However, no asteroid hit the earth on that date.

This year's conspiracy theories might have begun when asteroids 2004 BL86 and 2014 YB35 flew past the earth last January and March respectively.

Another rumor spreading is the "Blood Moon Prophecy" on Sept. 28, saying that it is the end of the world as we know it. It coincides with the last total eclipse following six full moons or the Blood Moon over the last 18 months, according to another report from Express
