Michael Lohan is once again back in the news, and once again for not-so-good reasons: his girlfriend, former Star Magazine editor Kate Major, has called the police on him, claiming that he tried to kill her and their child.

According to The Daily Mail, Major -- who is the mother of his youngest son, Landon; he has two sons, Michael Jr. and Dakota, with ex-wife (and Lindsay's mom) Dina Lohan -- called the police today after he allegedly tried to kill them both. She then went on a Twitter rant after she called the police, and the duo continued the drama for all the world to see.

"Why don't you leave the house like you were supposed to?" wrote Kate in one post. "Way to deflect things and call TMZ like you called the cops! Try to kill myself? No! More like I don't want you, and you want to try and take our son!"

Meanwhile, according to TMZ (Jesus, Michael...), the police are -- as of this writing -- outside of the couple's Boca Raton, Fla. house and talking the couple down. Michael rejects Kate's side of the story, claiming instead that Kate is "drunk" and "behaving erratically." He also claims that Kate was sober for a long time, but recently fell off the wagon, and it's gotten so bad that she's threatened to kill herself.

Of course, Kate took to Twitter to respond to that accusation, as well: "Someone trying to kill you is worse than trying to kill yourself!" she tweeted. "You don't scare me!"

Michael concluded his interview with TMZ by claiming to assume custody of Landon -- who is a little over a year old -- if Kate doesn't get help for her drinking.

We don't think this is a good environment for anyone -- man, woman, or child -- and, hopefully, everyone involved gets help, if only for little Landon's sake.
