Season 6 of the hit revival series "Hawaii Five-O" is set to be a major twist in the life of lead character Steve McGarrett. The producers have cast a new part in the show, set as recurring, for "Falling Skies" actress Sarah Carter.

Carter's character on the show will be an avid nature enthusiast and tenacious explorer who arrives on the paradise island to seek out her lifestyle, according to Deadline. She will soon meet Steve where their immediate romance ensues.

Although fans of the series were delighted to see the return of Catherine on the finale last year during Kono and Adam's wedding, it was even more exciting to learn she will be hanging around for Season 6. But the casting of Carter in the role of Steve's love interest puts a harsh damper on what kind of relationship he will be pursuing with Catherine.

There is no doubt that the presence of Carter's character will lead to harsh feelings between Steve and Catherine, and that is likely what will drive her away again.

When Steve meets up with the new girl, he takes her on a wild first date that includes exploring the island's treasured landscapes and ironically, stumble upon a criminal hideout. Of course, both of their lives are put in jeopardy after the encounter, and the show may have some grandiose consequences. If nothing else, between Steve and Catherine should the new girl make it out alive.

Executive Producer Peter Lenkov spoke with TV Line about Season 6.

"We play that [Steve/Catherine] uncertainty in the first couple episodes," Lenkov told TVLine. "There's a big change that's going to happen in their relationship."

Carter is a seasoned veteran in the television arena, having starred on "Falling Skies," "Rogue," "CSI: NY," "Entourage" and "Dirty Sexy Money." She has also starred in the film "The Vow," opposite Rachel McAdams.
