It's well-documented that the "NBA 2K" series has been the more acclaimed basketball video game in recent years. However, this has not stopped EA Sports from trying to bring back the glory days of their "NBA Live" titles.

The "NBA Live" games have yet to capture the realism and fluidity that "2K Sports" prides itself on. Yet, the former has a few things up its sleeves with "NBA LIVE 16" that just might upstage "2K Sports" this year.

EA recently launched the official NBA LIVE Spotify profile. The newly created page contains the upcoming game's soundtrack. The MICK-curated playlist includes beats from artists like Fashawn feat. Busta Rhymes, King Los feat. Ty Dolla $ign and more. It will also feature a new single by Illa J.

"Everyone loves to play their basketball in complete silence...said no one ever. That is why we've enlisted the help of MICK to help curate the soundtrack for NBA LIVE 16," EA Sports wrote on their website.

"Every year, we try to top the soundtrack from the previous year, and this year's lineup is great. We touch all regions, all sounds, and all aspects of dope new music in this game," MICK said via Operation Sports.

It's interesting to note though that the "NBA LIVE 16" soundtrack consists of 22 songs, an inferior number compared to what "NBA 2K16" has to offer, as shown on Game Spot. The Spike Lee-directed game boasts of 50 songs spanning six in-game playlists.

Meanwhile, both next-generation basketball video games will release on the same day, Sept. 29. However, EA Sports will be launching an extensive demo version of "NBA LIVE 16" on Sept. 15.

Gamers can play six different teams on the demo namely the Chicago Bulls, Cleveland Cavaliers, Golden State Warriors, Los Angeles Clippers, Oklahoma City Thunder and Washington Wizards. They can also test out the new Live Pro-Am feature on the game's Rising Stars mode, which in 2K parlance is called MyCareer mode.

"In Live Pro-Am, you'll take the player you created into one of two environments," Bleacher Report noted.

These environments are Live Run and the Summer Circuit. In Live Run, five Rising Star creations play together to take on other human-controlled teams. Same can be said with the Summer Circuit, only this time, teams compete against CPU-controlled All-Star teams.

These online battles are crucial for gamers wanting to earn player badges and skill upgrades. Their individual progress will then be the basis for them to acquire the signature moves and animations of popular NBA All-Stars.
