Latin America received a new multi-media platform with the introduction of a business news service.

A collaboration by Bloomberg L.P. and Grupo Multimedia Lauman's El Financiero, the multi-service Spanish-language business news service is aimed to provide business journalism across Mexico and Central America while including global market coverage. The product of the partnership is reportedly the first high-definition business news television channel for the region.

"The region is growing in a key economic, political and social context, and players need accurate, analytical and breaking information that enables them to make informed decisions. This alliance gives us the opportunity to grow our information portfolio and offer a global vision with a local context to our readers and spectators," said President of El Financiero and Grupo Lauman Manuel Arroyo.

The collaboration also expanded to online content and El Financiero's print newspaper.

Mexico's president welcomed the launch.

"May this new strategic alliance continue to project what is going on in Mexico, a country with people willing to change the future and who desire a better place to live, said President Enrique Peña Nieto. "I am sure El Financiero-Bloomberg will become the preferred source of information for millions of Mexicans."

The launch of the multi-media platform was celebrated during a gala at the Museo Carcamo de Dolores on Feb. 25 where further details about the partnership was shared from academic, business, political, and media viewpoints.

"Mexico and Central America are important territories, and this partnership will help Mexican companies further connect with the global market," said Bloomberg's Media Group Chairman Andrew Lack. "Together, we will offer business and financial professionals market-moving insights on global and regional developments and stories that really matter. We are delighted to partner with El Financiero on this new venture."

The partnership was announced in March 2013 with the idea to utilize Bloomberg's 2,400+ journalists in 146 news bureaus across 72 countries for the new high-definition studio located in Mexico City.

"Mexico is one of the fastest-growing economies in the world, and our agreement with El Financiero allows Bloomberg to deliver the sharpest global business and financial insight to a critical market," noted Lack in March 2013. "This is a significant part of the company's strategy of forming partnerships with leading providers in markets that have a compelling economic growth story, as we have done in India, Turkey, Mongolia, Indonesia, Africa and the Middle East."

The television service is available in the region on Cablevision channel 717, SKY channel 630, and TotalPlay. El Financiero Bloomberg will expand to further additional pay-television systems soon.
