Paul Heyman recently appeared on the SI Media Podcast and spoke about a variety of topics including Phil "CM Punk" Brooks, who left the WWE and the wrestling business for a pair of gloves and signed with the UFC last December 2014, per ESPN.

Brooks has vowed to never return to the WWE based on how he was treated and fired, close to a point that he had severely cut ties with almost everyone from the wrestling business. Heyman revealed that he maintained a close friendship with Punk and talked to him regularly, per the SI podcast recap by FOX News. Here are some of the CM Punk topics he discussed.

If CM Punk will succeed in the UFC

"Phillip Brooks does not have that background. It makes it all the more improbable, which is exactly why he's so driven to do it. Because he looks in the mirror and he sees not only a rebel and an uncompromising spokesman for the beliefs that are near and dear to him, but he sees someone that will defy conventional wisdom and pull off miracles if that's what it takes because he has one shot in life and he wants to do something quite special with it," Heyman said on Podcast as quoted by FOX News.

Punk's former on-screen manager went on to compare him to the likes of Bill Gates, Steve Jobs and Vince McMahon, who he said broke the rules and found success. The recap noted that the 36-year-old Brooks has never competed in an amateur fight and holds no ranks in any martial arts.

As for his debut, it has been pushed back to spring 2016 as he suffered a separated shoulder in training, which could cost him eight to 10 months. There is a strong chance that Brooks might wait until UFC 200 in July, his coach Duke Roufus told ESPN.

If CM Punk will ever return to WWE

"As of right now, ain't no way he's ever going back. I don't know if I can make that same statement in the future. I know his mindset is there's absolutely no way," Heyman said.

WWE has reconciled with a lot of wrestlers who left the company on really bad terms like Bret Hart, Bruno Sammartino and The Ultimate Warrior. Vince McMahon told Steve Austin during the Stone Cold Podcast, "The only thing I want to say about Punk is that there have been a number of individuals in the past who have been disgruntled, said a lot of things about the organization."

"I hope that one day, we'll be able to get back together again," McMahon added as quoted by FOX Sports.
