This sounds like a rejected storyline from Portlandia, and lo and behold, it happened in Portland, Oregon: a family is getting their pet cat, Lux, therapy after the 22-lb. domestic feline held them hostage. The situation got so bad that the family had to call 911 -- and of course, the call was recorded and blasted out throughout the Internet for all posterity!

According to The New York Daily News, the problems began for Lee Palmer and Teresa Barker when their baby grabbed the cat's tail. Lux, who has a "history of violence" (which some experts are speculating is as a result of being abused, either by this family or whichever family the cat was in before), snapped and scratched the child before forcing the family into the master bedroom.

Even the family dog, Smokey, cowered in fear in the bedroom with the family.

And according to The Telegraph, the call got even more hilariously-bad as Palmer attempted to explain the situation to the 911 dispatcher. "He's charging at us," Mr Palmer told the emergency operator. "He's at our door, bedroom door. He's trying to attack us. He's very, very, very, very hostile."

The 911 dispatcher told the family to stay behind the bedroom door until they were able to dispatch the police to the home. Police arrived and were able to capture the cat with a snare after he attempted to jump on top of the refrigerator to escape custody.

The family subsequently said that they were keeping the cat, and attempting to get it therapy. They even went so far as to hire a "pet psychiatrist" to help Lux along with his issues.

On one hand, the cat shouldn't have scratched the baby. On the other... there are certainly better ways to deal with the situation. It's called adult life skills... and these people don't have any.
