TV series "The Whispers," which graced the small screen in June for one season is, unfortunately, coming to a close. The show's network, ABC, and even the show's actors confirmed the cancelation of its second season despite what some fans may have hoped.

According to TV Series Finale, "The Whispers," a TV series about children in Washington DC playing games with an imaginary friend that turned out to be dangerous with FBI child specialist Claire Bennigan (played by Lily Rabe) investigating the matter, is officially over.

ABC also confirmed the rumors previously circulating in its recent announcement on TV Series Finale, listing all their shows and showing that "The Whispers," which aired 13 episodes in one season with the last episode airing last Aug. 31, 2015, is cancelled.

The cast including Barry Sloane, Milo Ventimiglia, Derek Webster, Kristen Connolly, Kylie Rogers and Kyle Harrison Breitkopf have yet to officially comment on the recently confirmed news, but Ventimiglia previously talked about it on social media.

Responding to one Twitter follower asking, "@BarrySloane @TheWhispersABC @MiloVentimiglia and what about the season 2 ? Any news ??" Ventimiglia responded writing on Twitter, "Sadly not happening darlin @Jenniifer133 @BarrySloane @TheWhispersABC. MV."

Meanwhile, Sloane has rather avoided talking directly about the show's cancellation but did post one photo of a T-shirt with the words, "We're not saying it was aliens but it was aliens" printed on it. He said that it was a personal joke within the cast members.

"Found a @TheWhispersABC tee shirt we had made for the crew. This was an ongoing joke. #TheWhispers @MiloVentimiglia," Sloane wrote alongside the photo, which he posted on Twitter. Co-star Ventimiglia responded to it as well.

"Sure was @BarrySloane @TheWhispersABC, it was always f***in aliens. The best times my brother. Miss em. MV," Ventimiglia wrote on Twitter as a comment to Sloane's post. And, as the many fans of the show wait for further details, the cancelation was reportedly because of its low ratings.

Cartermatt reports that the show has indeed struggled greatly when it comes to hitting their target ratings throughout the first, and, apparently, last season. Meanwhile, TV Series Finale reports that the show, when it opened in June, had a 1.5 rating in the 18-49 demographic with a total of 5.66 million viewers.

However, the ratings dropped as the season progressed and the show gained only 0.83 demo rating with only 3.43 million viewers.
