The Pitches will be back again with another sequel. "Pitch Perfect 3" has officially gotten the green light from the studio and Elizabeth Banks has signed on to return in the director's chair, as well as produce the film.

According to Variety, the actress and director has been weighing many options for directorial roles in Hollywood ever since her transformative success in the franchise that more than doubled its predecessor's success.

Banks came on to the franchise and directed the 2015 sequel in the franchise and turned it into an international success story that has not only out-performed the original film but nearly tripled its box-office take.

The first film in the franchise came out in 2012 and retuned a worldwide box-office haul of $113 million, which is a modest success for the movie. But it was the sequel that powered the story into mainstream success, bringing in over $286 million worldwide ($29 million budget), dwarfing the numbers of the original and drumming up the demand for more of the franchise.

Although not all credit can be given to Banks for the massive turnaround for the franchise, she was indeed the driving force that gave the movie mass appeal by translating her vision of the franchise onto the screen for the studio.

The third installment will not only see Banks returning but also the stars. That list includes Anna Kendrick, Brittany Snow and Rebel Wilson who have already been confirmed to return. There has been no word yet on the other stars of the film, but that does not mean they won't be returning. They could just be in the negotiations phase at this time.

Ever since Banks' success with "Pitch Perfect 2," the actress has been in demand for the director's chair in Hollywood. She has already signed onto to direct the "Red Queen" adaptation and will be working in the same capacity with the "Charlie's Angels" reboot.

"Pitch Perfect 3" is slated to premiere on Aug. 4, 2017.
