The Kansas City Royals are leading the 2015 World Series 2-0 after two games of play.

The surging New York Mets have hit a wall after sweeping the Chicago Cubs in the National League Championship Series. The Royals have been an extremely resilient team all year long, and it's continuing against the Mets. They won Game 1 despite trailing heading into the ninth inning. The Royals eventually won that game in a long drawn out 14-inning match after Alcides Escobar scored the winning run.

The Mets had their ace on the mound in Game 2, but Jacob deGrom couldn't get the job done. He allowed four runs in just five innings for his first loss of the postseason. DeGrom was outpitched by Dominican righty Johnny Cueto. Cueto has been extremely streaky this postseason with great games and terrible games, but he saved a gem for Game 2. That was Cueto's first career World Series start, and he made it a memorable one. Cueto pitched a complete game allowing just one run.

The biggest reason the Royals have jumped out to a 2-0 series lead is because they refuse to strikeout. Royals batters only struck out three times in all of Game 2 forcing deGrom to throw 94 pitches in just a five inning span. The Royals were up 2-1 in last year's World Series against the San Francisco Giants, and they know they have to close the deal this year.

Yordano Ventura will be starting Game 3 for the Royals.

As for the Mets, they are down, but certainly not out. Trailing 0-2 isn't exactly how they drew it up, but now they have the chance to even up the series back at home. As a matter of fact, the Mets have the opportunity to take a 3-2 series lead at home because the World Series is played in a 2-3-2 format.

Yoenis Céspedes has been the difference maker ever since the Mets acquired him before the trade deadline, but he is batting 1 for 10 in this World Series so far. His outfielding blunder in Game 1 didn't exactly help when Escobar when on to record an inside the park home run in the very first inning. Céspedes says his shoulder is "110 percent," but we can only wonder.

Noah Syndergaard will be starting Game 3 for the Mets.

Schedule

The Mets and Royals will play each other on Friday, Oct. 30 at 8 p.m. EDT on FOX. The game will be played at Citi Field in New York City, New York.

Prediction

Clearly this is "win or go home" for the Mets. If they lose this one, it's pretty much all over. As good and resilient as the Mets are, they aren't coming back from an 0-3 hole. The Royals defended home field, and now it's time for the Mets to do the same. Time for Cespedes to bounce out of this little slump and the Mets to get their first win of the series.

Mets win 5-3
