Next week on "Law & Order: SVU" Lt. Olivia Benson (Mariska Hargitay) will come face to face with one of her most hated criminals.

The trailer for Season 17's ninth episode, titled "Depravity Standard," shows the return of child abductor Lewis Hoda (Tom Sizemore).

Hoda last appeared in Episode 5 of Season 14, tilted "Manhattan Vigil." The case has Benson reflecting back on the unsolved case of a kidnapped boy named Hector. When another boy, Wyatt, is taken, the Special Victims Unit is able to link the kidnapping with Hector's disappearance years prior.

Eventually, the evidence leads them to building manager Hoda, who confesses to taking both boys. Wyatt is saved, and Hector's remains are found concealed beneath a concrete basement floor.

Now, with the arrival of Hoda's trial, the SVU division will be tasked with trying to prove the abductor's guilt as he accuses them of framing him.

The episode will heavily feature ADA Rafael Barba (Raul Esparza) as he works to make sure Hoda ends up behind bars where he belongs. Barba will have to turn decades-old evidence to land a conviction. However, he will be going against former FBI Special Agent criminal profiler Dr. George Huang (B.D. Wong), who isn't playing the SVU division's team.

This no doubt emotional episode comes on the heels of last week's airing, which opened up with a panicked Benson momentarily losing sight of her adopted son Noah (Bradley Dubow) at the playground. Maybe a little foreshadowing by the SVU writers?

The last episode also heavily featured newcomer Sgt. Dodds (Andy Karl), who found it hard to cope with the case of a murdered teenage girl and her grief-stricken parents. Benson imparted her colleague with some wisdom, but will she be able to follow her own advice when she is forced to relive this haunting case once more?
