Jared Fogle, the man who shot to fame as the face of Subway sandwiches, has been sentenced to 15.5 years in federal prison after pleading guilty to possession of child pornography and sex with minors.

As NPR reports, U.S. District Judge Tanya Walton Pratt sentenced Fogle after he pleaded guilty to receiving child pornography and having sex with minors.

The sentencing, which started at 9 a.m. ET and took over four hours, took into account Fogle’s paying minors for sex, as well as his collection of at least 400 child pornography videos.

The 38-year-old was sentenced to 188 months on each count, which amounts to just over 15.5 years when served consecutively. Fogle is also reportedly paying about $1.4 million in total restitution to 14 victims. After his time in jail, he will be supervised for life.

Fogle agreed he would avoid pornography, receive sexual disorder treatment and be registered as a sex offender.

As reported by Reuters, Fogle, who became a pitchman for Subway after losing nearly 100 lbs. on the so-called “Subway Diet,” blames his sexual appetites on his massive weight loss.

"He traded a horrible food addiction for a horrible sex addiction," defense attorney Jeremy Margolis said.

Dr. John Bradford, a forensic psychiatrist testifying on Fogle's behalf, described his pedophilia as “mild,” saying that he was mostly attracted to older female teenagers around 16 and 17 years of age and not to prepubescent children. Bradford described Fogle’s problems as compulsion. He had an alcohol problem as well as a compulsive eating disorder, which turned into "hypersexuality" after his weight loss, Bradford said.

Countering Bradford’s testimony, prosecutors read from a text in which Fogle asked for younger prostitutes, specifying "the younger the better."
