As Adele continues to promote her hit new album "25," she performed two of her latest singles on "Saturday Night Live," which spiked the show's TV ratings and marked the episode as the second highest-rated for less than a year, next to SNL's recent episode with Donald Trump as a guest host.

It was the second guest performance of Adele for the show, which also had actor Matthew McConaughey as a guest host. The combination of the two was a total success in ratings for SNL, Variety reports.

Nielsen, via Variety, reported that last Saturday's Adele-McConaughey episode on SNL averaged a household rating of 4.6/12 shares in the 56 metered markets, which is 15 percent higher from the SNL episode hosted by Elizabeth Banks that only rated 4.0/10.

Furthermore, Neilson said that the SNL episode, where Adele performed two of her latest songs "Hello" and "When We Were Young," while McConaughey hosted, is expected to gain seven million viewers.

The episode's viewers were mostly young adults with its 2.3 rating/11 share in 25 markets with Local People Meters second for all of 2015.

Meanwhile, The Huffington Post reported that the Adele episode on SNL showed a mix of funny and emotional scenes. The show even prepared a sketch that featured a family on Thanksgiving Day suddenly singing "Hello."

In the skit, an American family was first seen awkwardly talking to each other during their dinner when one young member played Adele's song. Everyone sang along while copying Adele's signature moves and the black-and-white scenario of the 27-year-old songstress' music video.

The skit also used props such as fur coats, painted long nails and, of course, wind blowing on their faces. Although Adele was not part of the sketch, she, however, performed her hit songs perfectly on the show.

The Huffington Post further reported that the recent SNL guest performance of Adele marked her first live TV performance since 2013 when she sang "Skyfall" during the Oscars. Adele's latest album "25" had already sold 900,000 copies on iTunes in one day.

Furthermore, her latest album is speculated to be the best-selling album of the year in just one week, Just Jared reports. Billboard also states that "25" might even break the previous record of NSYNC selling 2.4 million in a week.
