Kim Kardashian's struggles with her weight gain during pregnancy have been well documented for the past couple of months. In a town such as L.A., it's hard to lose one's figure and not expect a fair amount of criticism and sideways glances.

Not everyone is so critical of the celebutante, however. In fact, local artist Daniel Edwards became so inspired by the way Kardashian was carrying on through pregnancy that he decided he had to do something to immortalize her frame. So Edwards went ahead and made a sculpture of her.

"I was inspired by the beauty of Kim Kardashian and felt quite put-off by the media's criticism of her weight gain during pregnancy," Edwards said in the release. "Such criticism should be off limits."

Kim Kardashian, star of the E! channel's hit show "Keeping Up With The Kardashians," is expected to give birth next month, though she has looked to be at her due date for the past two. Edwards does not think the media portrayal of her has been fair, and states that he wanted to show people the beauty of blossoming motherhood.

"People tend to look at the parts, like the creases in her armpits, or how she wore a dress that makes her look like a killer whale. I'm stripping it of the details people get stuck on, so they can see the beauty," the artist observed.

Edwards is a celebrity sculptor famous for several other high-profile images of maternity. He crafted a statue of Brittney Spears giving birth to her son Sean in 2006, and also made one of Angelina Jolie breast-feeding.

"We live in a media-absorbed culture where anyone can access and share a celebrity's most intimate moments," his publicist Cory Allen said in the release. "Daniel visually captures that intimacy."

Though the sculpture may be a glorification of Kardashian's pregnancy, things have not always been such a smooth ride. Most recently, rumors are surfacing the Kanye West will not be in the delivery room at the time of the birth because of his squeamishness around blood, much to the chagrin of Kardashian.
