Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton scored another major endorsement from a third member of President Barack Obama's cabinet on Wednesday

Her campaign aides announced that U.S. Labor Secretary Tom Perez is set to formally endorse the Democratic front-runner during her campaign stops in Sioux City and Fort Dodge, Iowa on Friday, reports The Des Moines Register.

"Progressives believe in making progress, which is why I'm proud to endorse Hillary Clinton who I know will continue fighting to ensure our children and grandchildren can achieve their highest and best dreams," Perez said in a statement released by the Clinton campaign.

"Secretary Clinton is tough, smart, and understands better than any candidate the challenges that parents are talking about around dinner tables and keeping families up at night," he said. "In the coming months, I look forward to hitting the campaign trail to highlight the progress we've made as a nation, the unfinished business, and why Hillary Clinton is the fighter we need leading that effort."

Perez, who is the son of first-generation Dominican immigrants, worked as assistant U.S. attorney general for the Department of Justice's Civil Rights Division, before becoming the secretary of labor in 2013. According to Clinton aides, he will use his expertise on civil rights, criminal justice and economic issues to advise the former first lady.

Perez's endorsement of Clinton follows that of Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack, a former governor of Iowa, and Secretary of Housing and Urban Development Julian Castro.

Back in October, Castro declared during a campaign event in Texas that Clinton "has a strong vision for America's future" and is the candidate best prepared to fix the broken immigration system.

In addition, Clinton has stacked up endorsements from major unions, including the Service Employees International Union, the National Education Association and the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees.
