"Dirty Dancing" is getting a TV remake, and it's set to star Abigail Breslin.

The original 1987 movie, starring Patrick Swayze and Jennifer Grey, is being remade as a three-hour event, which will air on ABC, according to Entertainment Weekly.

While the network has confirmed the project, few details of the remake have been released, like when the project will begin production or the airdate. However, it is known that Wayne Blair will direct and Tony Award winner Andy Blankenbuehler will serve as the choreographer.

The story follows Frances Houseman, otherwise known by her nickname "Baby," who is vacationing with her family in the Catskills. There, she meets Johnny Castle, who teaches her how to dance. The two eventually fall in love.

Breslin has been chosen to play the role of Baby, which was originally played by Grey. The 19-year-old actress first gained popularity after her role in "Little Miss Sunshine," and she currently stars on the Fox show "Scream Queens."

The original film's screenplay writers, Allison Shearmur and Eleanor Bergstein, have agreed to serve as executive producers on the project. "Glee" veterans Peer Astrom and Adam Anders will compose music for the production. "Scream Queens" and "American Horror Story" writer Jessica Sharzer is set to pen the adaptation.

Rumors of a "Dirty Dancing" remake have been circulating for quite some time. At one point, a miniseries backed by Lionsgate TV was in the works to start production in North Carolina, but it was canceled in July. That rendition was to be directed by Kenny Ortega, who was the original movie choreographer.

Other people who appeared in the original version of the film, which was directed by Emile Ardolino, included Jerry Orbach, Cynthia Rhodes, Jack Weston, Jane Brucker, Kelly Bishop, Lonny Price, Neal Jones and Wayne Knight.
