Nothings says holiday cheer quite as much as Henry Rollins showing up on "The Late Show With Stephen Colbert" and singing a heavy metal duet of the classic Christmas tune, "Carol of the Bells."

According to Rolling Stone, that is exactly what happened when Colbert and Rollins took to the stage together for a trashing version of the song, which has been covered by other metal and rock acts for darker versions in the past.

Colbert made the introduction by way of titling the act a "Very Rollins Christmas" and the two took to the stage with lyrics to accompany the tune.

Colbert put out his best voice in traditional style, but when the band passed the music over to Rollins, the roof was raised and the metal thrash became a loud event. The song went back and forth between the two putting their own versions of lyrical notes on the song, and in the end, there was a bit of a back and forth between dark Christmas metal and lighter, almost wholesome melody.

This is definitely not the fist time the classic song has been dubbed to a special darker side of the holidays. The Trans-Siberian Orchestra also put a song out of their own that was titled "Christmas Eve in Sarajevo." That song was almost an instant classic and was entirely instrumental, with many different musical instruments making up a sizable amount of the arrangement.

Needless to say, the Trans-Siberian Orchestra rang all the bells and whistles of the song to make it a classic darker version of "Carol of the Bells," just with a different title.

Rollins is also quite known to pervert classic Christmas themes to the point of dark melodies. Back in 1991, he recorded a live reading of "Twas the Night Before Christmas" and gave it the same spin.
