Royal couple Kate Middleton and Prince William recently joined Queen Elizabeth II and the other royals for the traditional Christmas Day church service at Sandringham estate. Unfortunately, Prince George and 7-month-old Princess Charlotte were both left at home.

Following the service at St. Mary Magdalene Church, Daily Mail reported the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge went to Anmer Hall. While the royals headed back to Sandringham for Christmas lunch, the royal couple dined with the Middletons at their home.

While Kate and William skipped the traditional royal Christmas lunch, Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh, were joined by Prince Harry, Anne, the Princess Royal, Princesses Eugenie and Beatrice, Prince Andrew, Prince Edward and Sophie, the Countess of Wessex, Lady Louise Windsor and James, Viscount Severn.

Since this Christmas is the first for the royal couple as a family of four, Duchess Kate has gone all out and reportedly spent hundreds on decorations. She also bought two trees, one for Prince George and Princess Charlotte while the other tree was placed on the main house.

"Kate has gone all out and there's a lot of glitter, sparkle and Christmas cheer," an insider said. "She wants it to be great fun for the kids. There is nothing formal or stuffy, it's all rather over the top and good fun. The Middletons always go OTT, and Kate and Will are following suit."

Meanwhile, there have been rumors circulating that the royal couple are breaking the royal tradition this Christmas. According to International Business Times, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge spent their first Christmas with daughter Charlotte at their Norfolk house with the Middletons while the royal family's Christmas schedule remained tight at the Sandringham Palace. The Crown Chronicles Editor Chloe Howard also revealed the family members arrived at Sandringham in order of seniority, where they changed for lunch and dinner dressing up in formal outfits, which is a German custom.

Meanwhile, Duchess Kate is reportedly "devastated" because her son, Prince George, prefers spending time with his dad, Prince William. Celeb Dirty Laundry claimed a source revealed that the little prince happily runs to his dad when he's around, forgetting his mom Kate while she works tirelessly to keep him entertained.

In other news, a new report suggested that Queen Elizabeth II preferred Duchess Kate to be the next ruler of England. Starpulse reported the Queen chose Kate by allowing her to wear the Lover's Knot tiara. The celeb gossip site also added that the Queen wanted Prince William's wife to take the reign because she hated her son Prince Charles' wife, Camilla Parker-Bowles.

"She's [Camilla] been riding her staff so brutally that they're sick and tired of her disgusting behavior," a source said. "The queen now believes Camilla on the throne would spell doom for the monarchy."
